Introduction

HouseBuildCostCalculator.com ("we," "us," or "the Site") provides free construction and material-planning calculators. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the Site, including the country-detection feature, the optional "Email my results" feature, analytics/advertising technologies, and optional marketing consent.

Information We Collect

Calculator use without email delivery. Most calculator inputs are used in your browser to produce a result. The Site also loads central configuration such as countries, currencies, units, cost profiles, and calculation settings from the server.

Approximate country detection. To choose a sensible default country and currency, the Site may use a country code supplied by a CDN/hosting header. When that is unavailable, the server may use your public IP address with a country-detection service to determine an approximate country. This is country-level detection, not GPS or precise-location tracking. A short-lived hashed/cache key may be used to avoid repeating the lookup.

Emailing a calculator result. If you request an emailed result, the Site sends the information needed to fulfill that request to the server, which may include your email address, selected country, currency, units, calculator inputs, result summary, and calculator URL. The custom calculator system does not require an account.

Optional marketing consent. Marketing is separate from result delivery. If you actively select the optional marketing checkbox, we may retain your email address together with the calculator/source, country, currency, source URL, consent version, consent time, and a one-way hash derived from the IP address for consent-record purposes. You can unsubscribe later.

We may also receive ordinary technical/server information such as IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, referring pages, and error/log information. If you contact us directly, we receive the information you include in your message.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate and secure the Site, select the appropriate country/currency defaults, generate and deliver requested calculator emails, maintain consent records when a visitor opts in to updates, troubleshoot errors, understand aggregate usage, improve calculators/content, and respond to inquiries. We do not sell personal information as a standalone product.

Cookies, Local Storage & Similar Technologies

The Site may use cookies and browser local storage for preferences such as manually selected country, currency, measurement units, and interface settings. Analytics and advertising providers may also use cookies or similar technologies subject to their own policies and, where required, consent choices presented to you.

Advertising & Google Services

The Site may display advertising through Google or other advertising providers. Advertising technologies may process device, cookie, and usage information to measure or personalize ads where permitted. Where consent is legally required, the applicable consent interface should control those advertising purposes. Advertising relationships do not change calculator formulas or result values.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools to understand traffic and product usage in aggregate, such as pages viewed, device/browser characteristics, approximate region, and interaction patterns. Analytics data is used to improve the Site rather than to determine an individual construction estimate.

Third-Party Services & Links

The Site relies on third-party infrastructure and may link to external reference sources. Country detection, email delivery, hosting/CDN services, analytics, and advertising may involve third-party providers. Their processing is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. External links are provided for reference; we do not control third-party sites.

Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for general construction-planning use and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly ask children to create accounts. If you believe a child has provided personal information through an email or marketing feature, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Data Security & Retention

We use reasonable technical and administrative safeguards appropriate to the Site. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Requested-result emails are processed for delivery and may also appear in normal mail/server delivery logs. Optional marketing-consent records are retained while the subscription remains active or as reasonably needed to demonstrate consent, handle unsubscribe requests, comply with law, or resolve disputes.

Your Privacy Choices & Rights

You can manually change country, currency, or units instead of relying on automatic country detection. You can use the calculator without opting in to marketing. Marketing messages include an unsubscribe mechanism. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or other controls over personal information.
